Building communication skills through interactive language games

Stephen Krashen, a world renowned language educator,  said that for language acquisition to take place,  learners must have high self esteem and high motivation as they interact in a learning environment with zero anxiety.

True to form, Access scholars experienced a fun way of language learning as they were engaged to play the Activate games which are language-based board games donated by the US embassy Manila. One whole class meeting was dedicated for this activity. Students didn't notice time for they really enjoyed playing word games one after the other.

The next meeting,  students' creativity and teamwork were challenged when they were tasked to create their own
language board games. The resulting products were so great!

Reading and Writing Personal Narratives

Still part of their Blogging Project, Access scholars were busy enhancing and improving their understanding and skills in writing personal narratives or memoirs. Their outputs will be posted on their respective blogs next week.

Students in this lesson were able to read and analyze samples of personal narratives. Then, they wrote a draft of their 'small moments stories.' They were then engaged on an interactive peer revision conference which helped them improve their drafts. I got the idea from this site.

See how they enjoyed the collaborative group personal narrative analysis and presentation.
