"Learning English and American Values through Music" - this is the theme of the first culminating activity of the Access Program Navotas-Philippines.
Access scholars managed to prepare musical presentations featuring mash-ups of famous American pop tunes with modified lyrics that focused on the ideas of overcoming challenges, dreaming big, achieving success through self-reliance and believing in one self.
The program opened with a doxology and then followed by a short inspirational message from Dr. Maria Cristina A. Robles, the principal of Navotas National High School. In her message, Dr. Robles encouraged the students to seize every learning opportunities that they will derive in the program.
Mrs. Fuentes, one of the Access teachers, then introduced the procedure of the presentation. Four judges who are also teachers in the school (three language arts teachers and one Music teacher) evaluated the musical presentations of the scholars.
There were eight groups composed of five members in the activity. In the end, team SUCCESS won the best performance and song.

I had so much fun in this activity because we are able to showcase our talents in composing songs and in singing. By this activity, I gain new perspectives in life like 'we can make it if we work together' and 'we can all be successful in life'. Congratulations to both Washington and Lincoln group especially to Team Success! Soar high, Access scholars!
ReplyDeleteThis first culminating activity was great! I'm so happy that everyone of us shown sportsmanship and friendliness with the other scholars. I won't forget this activity. I really love being a part of the access scholarship program! :)
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed this activity because we cooperate to others in composing songs and i hope that everyone gave their best in their performance.For me all groups are winners because we enjoy,we did our best and we did this not only for us but also to everyone to work hard to achieve our success.
ReplyDeleteIt was very fun. I enjoy every moment of it. We did great, even though we only had one day to practice. I'm very excited to have another group activity like this that i will surely enjoy.
ReplyDeleteOMG, I can't believe that we finished this task!!! :D 'Cause in the very first place, we only had given ONE DAY practice just to prepare for it. And, for all we know, one day is not enough to make a dance&song presentation! But because we are an access scholars and also because of TEAMWORK, we ended up to these "not so perfect, but can be proud of" presentations. And, for me, the best part of it, is when we go home with a smile plastered in our face because of so much enjoyment and happiness... :)

DeleteIt was so great although it was a one-day practice. :D Everyone did great performances.A lot of talents were shown up ! We were so proud of it :) And I saw the essence of unity in every group. It was the proof that ACCESS SCHOLARS were great ! .I can't wait for the next activity :)

ReplyDeleteOur first culminating activity was so fun, great and successful even though we had one day of preparation, that's why we are really proud to be an access scholars. We also have the spirit of TEAMWORK that helps us to believe that we can do anything despite all problems.Congratulations to all groups, especially to the winners.

By this great activity, our talents was shown up and even the essence of teamwork. We are able to experienced how to be a composer, singer, dancer, or even a performer. I'm so very happy because, both Lincoln and Washington group did their best when they performed in the front of the judges. Even if we had only given a one day practice. And that one day practice is not enough.
ReplyDeleteAt the end, I can't imagine that our group will be recognize as the champion for this activity, because our opponent was really good and did their job well.
All of us did a really great job. I appreciated the effort exerted by everyone. We also discovered our hidden talents through encouraging each others. Teamwork was very visible as we practiced our piece in just one day. Congratulations!! :)

ReplyDeleteFor me, if you are not an extraordinary scholar you cannot do what we have done. Because we make a song and dance just only a one day, think of it, this is so very amazing. With this, I showed to them that I can make my talents useful and not only a potential.
